Hey guys, this is Brad from Tech Guy Web
0:03
Solutions. Um, I'm going to make a quick
0:05
video showing you how to link your how
0:08
to link Dreamweaver to your your live
0:10
website. Um, you know, through a hosting
0:13
provider, whatever hosting provider you
0:15
use. Um, we're going to do this with an
0:18
FTP account cuz Dreamweaver has a
0:20
built-in FTP client that we can use to
0:23
um, automatically upload files to our
0:26
site. Um, and you could use your root
0:30
hosting login um, you know, to your root
0:33
C panel, but we're actually just going
0:35
to create an FTP account um, real quick.
0:38
So, just log into your C panel, um, you
0:41
know, wherever your provider is, and
0:43
just create a new FTP account. Uh, it's
0:46
pretty self-explanatory. I do have a
0:48
video on on how to create FTP accounts,
0:51
but I'm sure you already know how to do
0:53
that. So, uh, we're just going to say
0:55
test
0:57
user. And the domain I'm using is
1:01
techgiststaging.com. I'm not going to
1:02
use the root. I'm not going to use I'm
1:04
going to use techgiststaging.com
1:07
um slashmy site. So, we're using this as
1:10
as the
1:12
website.
1:15
So, create a password.
1:19
Um, we're going to take this test user
1:22
off because we want it to go to the root
1:25
directory and
1:28
create. All right. So, now we have test
1:30
user at
1:31
techguysstaging.com. We have that FTP
1:34
account created. So, let's go
1:37
Dreamweaver.
1:39
Um, oh, you need to have a a local
1:41
folder on your on your um on your
1:45
computer where you want the the files to
1:48
be locally. So, I'm just going to create
1:50
a new folder on um the desktop and I'm
1:53
just going to call it my
1:55
site and it's just an empty directory.
1:58
Uh so, now we want to go into
1:59
Dreamweaver and go to site, new site. Um
2:04
we'll just call it my site. And here is
2:07
where you want to specify the local
2:08
folder that we just created. So, it's
2:11
desktop my site.
2:14
And now you want to go down to servers
2:17
and you want to create a new
2:19
server. I just name it my sites server.
2:25
And you want to put the the FTP address
2:27
which is your domain
2:32
name and your username. Uh what do we
2:36
do? Test user. And you want to put the
2:39
username along with the domain
2:42
name and the
2:44
password. And you want to
2:47
test. Okay. So, we're connected
2:50
successfully. But right now, it's it's
2:52
it's going to the root of techy staging.
2:55
We don't want that. Uh we want to we
2:57
want to put it in the the my site
3:00
subdirectory. So right here you want to
3:02
put public html or your your host might
3:06
use something like www or ht docs. Um
3:10
but public html is the most common. So
3:13
and you want to do slash my site and you
3:18
got to have that this folder on your web
3:20
host. I'll actually show you right here.
3:23
Um this I got FileZilla open in my
3:26
public html. You'll see the folder is
3:28
right here under my site. Uh it's a
3:30
blank directory.
3:31
So now you want to actually before you
3:35
save go to advanced and click
3:38
automatically upload files to server on
3:40
save. That way when you save the file it
3:43
will automatically go up to your web
3:44
host your website. It won't you won't
3:46
have to do it manually. And after you do
3:49
that test
3:53
again a problem.
3:55
What? My sight. Maybe I need the
4:01
backslash.
4:04
Huh? Oh, you know
4:09
what? Might not need
4:13
that. All right. So, yeah, we didn't
4:16
need we didn't need the public HTML, so
4:18
it's just a subfolder. Um,
4:21
save. Now, almost done. You just want to
4:24
go to Oh, I I like to go to advanced
4:26
settings and and turn off the cache.
4:28
That way, you know, everything's in real
4:30
time. There's no cash. Uh after you do
4:33
that, just click save. And then you'll
4:36
see over here it says my site. Um and
4:39
this is this is your website right here.
4:41
I mean, right now there's nothing in it.
4:43
So, we'll just create a quick file
4:46
uh new a new HTML
4:49
file and we'll just we'll just
4:55
um yeah, we'll just set up a
4:58
quick
5:01
Oh, you know what? I didn't save it as
5:06
HTML. I want to save it as
5:08
index, not
5:11
HTML. All right.
5:14
So, I'm just going to create a quick
5:17
page right here. I'm not going to give
5:18
you a HTML
5:20
tutorial right
5:32
now. Okay.
5:34
So, we'll just
5:44
All right, let me put a title in
5:54
there. All right. So, we'll save that.
5:58
And you'll see it's right over here
5:59
under my site. Um, I'm going to bring
6:02
the FileZilla over to see if it
6:04
uploaded.
6:05
Uh, refresh. And you'll see it right
6:08
there. Now we'll go to the
6:13
browser and
6:15
reload. And what is going
6:23
what? What is going on
6:28
here? Oh, sorry. I have it in design
6:32
view. I was wondering why it wasn't
6:34
completing my tags or anything.
6:37
All right,
6:40
save. Reload. And there you go.
6:45
techystagation.com/myite. So you can
6:46
create
6:47
uh any other, you know, your CSS
6:50
folders. Just go to new
6:52
folder, you know, CSS and then you want
6:55
to create
6:57
um an images
7:00
directory, not in
7:02
CSS, you know. So you get the hint. Uh
7:06
yeah. So that's it's pretty easy. Um,
7:09
and thanks for watching this tutorial.
